SAIKAT KARMAKAR, violin, recently graduated from Michigan State University with a Master’s in Violin Performance studying with Dr. Walter Verdehr. Most recently, he has worked in the Ohio Light Opera as a pit musician as well as The Villages Philharmonic. Previously, he joined The Hollywood Concert Orchestra in their annual tour of China, and played violin and viola in the ARCO chamber orchestra. While in his undergraduate studies at the University of Georgia with Dr. Michael Heald, he lead the Studio Jazz Orchestra and the Georgia Clay String Quartet which went on to perform two tours of the southeastern United States. His past summers were spent at Brevard Music Festival and the Meadowmount School for Strings. In his spare time, he enjoys most racquetsports and hiking.
